Overview

Located in the heart of El Reodo, Antioquia, Mi Gallo Tuerto stands as a beacon of traditional Colombian cuisine. This restaurant offers a genuine taste of the region’s rich culinary heritage, with a menu that highlights signature dishes such as the famed Pastel de Pollo and hearty Bandeja Paisa. The restaurant’s charm lies not only in its flavorful food but also in its warm, inviting atmosphere where local culture is palpable.

One cannot visit without trying the Pastel de Pollo, a savory chicken pie that defies the typical notion of “cake” yet captivates with its texture and seasoning. It is frequently praised by patrons for arriving freshly made and perfectly warm. Alongside this, the Empanada de Posta offers another taste of regional tradition, best enjoyed right out of the fryer when the crust is crisp and golden. Frequent visitor Diana Frasier’s advice to come when busy ensures the empanadas are served at their freshest, a testament to the kitchen’s attention to quality.

The experience at Mi Gallo Tuerto balances authenticity with comfort. The space reflects a casual, friendly vibe suited to locals and travelers eager to explore Antioquia’s flavors. Staff hospitality enhances the visit, often mentioned by guests who appreciate the welcoming service in this humble but well-respected establishment.

While some patrons, like Frank Escobar, note occasional dips in product consistency due to high demand, the overall reputation remains strong. Dishes like Medio Mondongo, Punta de Anca, and the eclectic Picada deliver robust, regionally inspired flavors that satisfy both traditionalists and newcomers. Dessert offerings, particularly the Brownie de Feliz Cumpleaños and Obleas, provide a sweet finish to a memorable meal.

Targeting lovers of authentic Colombian fare, Mi Gallo Tuerto is best suited for those seeking a genuine culinary experience rooted in Antioquean tradition. The moderate wait times, usually around fifteen minutes, suggest fresh preparation rather than pre-made convenience, enhancing the quality. For anyone traveling through Antioquia, this restaurant represents a meaningful connection to local food culture—comforting, flavorful, and deeply satisfying.

Everytime we drive by here I ask to stop so we can have freshly made empanadas! Go when it's busy so you get fresh right out of the fryer ones!

Place is well known by his "pastel de pollo"chicken cake(not cake at all) which is a must eat if you visit this place. All food in general is really good and arrives warm at table.
